European football stadiums score SELEMIX® makeover

Selemix, PPG´s premium refinish brand in the light industry, serves the needs of many segments thanks to its outstanding flexibility and ability to paint almost any substrate. Selemix is supported by a team of technically skilled and highly experienced consultants from our Light Industrial Coatings (LIC) business who are on hand to provide advice from specification to application, ensuring that objects are protected in a durable way with an excellent and colouraccurate finish.

A JOB FOR SELEMIX

One of the latest success stories was realised with Aralia Dinamic, a refurbishment specialist with an established track record in the renovation of football stadiums in Spain. From their first project, Selemix has worked with Aralia Dinamic to protect and beautify 15 football stadiums throughout Spain, among which the stadium of Vicente Calderón, Las Palmas, Valdebebas (Ciudad deportiva del R. Madrid), Getafe, Bernabéu, Nastic de Tarragona, Numancia, Racing de Santander (Sardinero) or Granada can be found.

The refurbishment included many small objects such as chairs, signage elements, service and changing rooms. “Football clubs have recognised that today’s fans need to be attracted by more than the pure passion for their club and have been willing to invest in improved facilities and nicer stadiums in recent years,” says José-Manuel Carrascal, Business Manager CT/ LIC - PPG Refinish Iberia.

José Antonio García, CEO of Aralia Dinamic, embraces the view that “few clubs, to say almost none, disregards that their stadium is the home of their members and fans, their place of worship and one of the main assets of the club. An elegant stadium, clean and tidy, with sanitised seats and recovery of its original colour becomes much more attractive and leads to greater attendance,” he concludes.

SELEMIX strikes again

Selemix also provided the ideal solution for the widely publicised renovation of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, working together with their local partner Mega Glass, one of the leading architectural glass innovation companies in the UK. PPG Refinish UK and Ireland have an established relationship with Mega Glass going back over four years and we have realised many different projects successfully together.

Having been awarded the contract to work on the male, female and disabled washrooms, Mega Glass needed to source a paint supplier. This supplier needed to be one who could reliably offer exceptionally high quality glass paint, given the prestigious nature of the project, and provide a high level of customer service and support. The project had a strict timeline and so it was essential that the chosen supplier would be able to help maintain the flow of paint needed to complete the job within the specified timeframe.

“PPG ticked all the boxes for us. Being a global company, not only was their pricing competitive, they had an exceptional level of customer support, and Selemix was a tried and tested product,” says Andrew Fox, Supply Operations Manager at Mega Glass.

Keen to make the process as streamlined as possible, our team installed a mixing station at Mega Glass to help reduce the waiting times for paint.

Selemix was the perfect solution for the job and the team at Mega Glass found it extremely easy to apply. PPG regularly provided training for new employees, meaning that Mega Glass had everything it needed on site to keep the project moving forward, on time and to plan.

In fact, the project was so successful that Mega Glass was invited to renovate additional spaces within the Stadium, including the Chairman’s suite, lift lobbies, home changing room and players’ lounge. Overall, the project has trebled in size, thanks to the support provided by Selemix.

Andrew concludes: “The team at Selemix were so helpful throughout the entire project and were always proactively trying to help develop the service further, so we could achieve even more for our clients. This has been far more valuable to us than pricing alone. We will certainly be working with them for the foreseeable future.”

We would like to congratulate the Selemix LIC teams in Spain and the UK & Ireland on their blossoming partnerships within this field - and thank you for sharing these success stories and wonderful images with us.
